Paul grew up in Batavia,IL. and played  youth hockey for the Wolves and the Flames. He then went on to play for the Chicago Mission and the Chicago Chill Bantam-Midget. Paul played one season for the Marquette Electricians. before going on to play Juniors with the Soo Indians in the NOJHL. Paul changed things up a bit and became an on-ice official for a few years before going to Robert Morris University-Chicago where he played 2 seasons for RMU ACHA D1 team. Paul graduated with a degree in Business Management.

      Paul started coaching five years ago, with the Admirals Hockey Club, beginning at the Squirt level his first year and then coaching at the Peewee Level for the next 3 years.  Paul is going on his 4th season as a Head Coach at RMU, and this will be his second year coaching the ACHA D3 team.  Paul is a level 4 USA Hockey Coach.
 

Nick Fina enters his second season with the Admirals Hockey Club in a Director role, having served the 2017-19 season as our Skills Director.  He will have an expanded role this upcoming spring and fall season throughout the organization, while continuing to assist players with skill development and hockey knowledge.   Nick grew up playing youth hockey for the Chicago Flames out of Center Ice of DuPage.  After youth hockey, he joined the former Chicago Force junior program out of West Meadows Ice Arena.  During his second season he was voted team captain by his fellow teammates and selected to the league’s all-star team to play against top players from other junior leagues across the United States.
 
Following junior hockey, Nick played collegiate hockey at Robert Morris University which helped him gain a much greater understanding of skill development and team dynamics, which ultimately helped drive his passion for teaching and coaching.  
 
He currently holds the highest Level 5 USA Hockey coaching certification. He served as an assistant coach for the RMU-IL Hockey program while obtaining his Master’s Degree in Business Administration.  During his coaching tenure at Robert Morris University, he helped carve out the winningest season for the Black team, as well as helping the Maroon team reach the regional tournament and falling one game short of the national tournament.  Nick currently resides in Glen Ellyn with his wife Katie and considers himself a “lifelong rink rat”.
 
 

Abbie McDonald is a Level 4 USA Hockey certified coach
and has been playing hockey for 20+ years in co-ed and women’s leagues.  McDonald has been teaching skating academy classes as well as private lessons for all ages for 20+ years.
Abbie been with the Admirals as a skating coach in the pre-hockey, ADML, and 8U programs for 9+ years as well as being a head/assistant coach on various teams throughout that time.

 

Gregg Naumenko’s background includes coaching at the Tier I level with the Chicago Young Americans.  Gregg is a Level 4 certified coach, has been a scout for the USHL, and was an instructor at the USA Select Camp.  Gregg’s extensive playing career includes professional, college, and junior hockey with the Anaheim Mighty Ducks, Chicago Wolves, University of Alaska, North Iowa Huskies, and Springfield Jr. Blues.  He also played with the KHL in Russia and was a member of the 2002 U.S. National team at the World Championships.  Gregg is one of only 6 goaltenders born in Illinois to play in the NHL.  Attached is Greg’s resume.

Colby Drost

Goalie Coach

Colby Drost served as a recruiting coordinator at Skidmore College (Division III), where he secured 13 student-athlete commitments during the 2015–16 season, and those players helped lead the program to its second-ever national ranking during the 2016–17 season. Colby served as the primary assistant and goaltender coach while at Skidmore and both goaltenders received All-Conference awards respectively. At the USHL level, he served as a scout with the Sioux City Musketeers and the Dubuque Fighting Saints.

Colby Drost was recently promoted to Director of Scouting on June 13, 2025 and was named Assistant Director of Player Personnel in July, 2016.

Most recently with the York Skipjacks, a top-flight organization in the US Premier Hockey League, Colby filled the role of Director of Scouting for the past four seasons. During his tenure, he secured 19 Division I student-athlete commitments and the organization produced 16 USHL draft picks, 17 NAHL draft picks, and 39 USPHL All-Stars.
