Welcome two new skills coaches for spring

The Admirals Hockey Club is proud to announce the addition of Derek Knorr and Brad Stoffers as skills coaches for the Spring 2017 season.

Coach Knorr will be working with our Squirts, while Coach Stoffers will be working with the Bantams. See below for the bios of these highly qualified coaches. 

The Admirals look forward to leveraging the vast knowledge and experience of these coaches in our relentless pursuit to provide Admirals hockey players with world class development and ADM/LTAD certified training!


Coach Derek Knorr 

Coach Knorr is originally from Kerrobert, SK, Canada and has been involved in hockey for the vast majority of this life. He has been involved in Illinois hockey for the past 9 years, coaching at all levels from Mite to Bantam.

Highlights include:

  • Played Junior hockey with the North Battleford North Stars of the SJHL.
    • Voted top rookie
    • Voted to All Star team in first and only year of Junior hockey.
  • Awarded scholarship and played 4 years of D1 collegiate hockey for UIC (University of Illinois at Chicago)
  • Played professional minor league hockey for 6 years.
    • Won the COHL Championship.
    • Honored in 2001 by the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto, Canada where his Captain’s All Star Jersey was placed in recognition of the Professional Minor Leagues.
    • Named MVP of the All-Star game that year.
  • Taught extensively at various hockey schools.
    • Laura Stamm International Skating School.
    • Turcotte Stickhandling.

Coach Brad Stoffers

Coach Stoffers is in his 11th year of coaching and his 3rd year with the Chicago Cougars Junior Hockey team.

Highlights include:

  • Coached with the Springfield Jr. Blues
  • Assistant Coach at NCAA D1 RPI
  • Has coached at the Nashville Jr. Predators, and various youth and High School teams.
  • Has a Master's degree in Education from Boston University.
  • Worked as Evaluator, Coach, & Team Leader for various USA Hockey Regional and National player development camps and coaching education programs.
  • Is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, and is knowledgeable in off-ice player development.
    • Joined the Anaheim Ducks for their Player Development Camp in 2009.
