ADML Program Overview

The Admirals Developmental Mite League (ADML) is an in-house program for Mite players at the 8U age level. This is a teaching program designed to assist our younger hockey players to develop their skills with players who are of similar age, size, and ability.  Fall and winter sessions lead to spring league teams. The spring and summer sessions leads to fall league teams.

ADML averages two ice slots per week for practices and cross-ice games. There will be additional game opportunities with other organizations for jamborees and practice games in the fall and winter sessions.

ADML is offered in fall, winter, spring, and summer each year.  All players must be registered online prior to the session evaluation, and all players who register will be placed on a team.  Mid-session registrations are allowed as space permits.

Fall 2017

  • Open to birth years 2009-2013
  • Program includes 2 ice slots per week for practices, skill sessions, and small area games. Players also receive one numbered team jersey and one pair of hockey socks.
  • The Fall Session runs September 10 - December 17, 2025 for $650.
  • Evaluations are Sunday, September 10, at 9:00AM

Additional ADML Program Details

All players that register for the Admirals Developmental Mite League (ADML) will be placed on a team. These are teaching teams and there are no cuts. ADML does accept players "in session" based on ability and space per team. It is the intent to keep these teams small. In the case of excess registrations every effort will be made to field additional teams. If this is not possible, online registration date will determine eligibility.

This very successful program assists our beginning hockey players to develop their skills quickly against similar age, size and ability players. On-the-ice coaches will assist players with positioning and rules during games and will double as referees. Players will skate in running time periods and will change on the horn or stoppage of play.

USA Hockey membership provides you with valuable information, a USA Hockey magazine subscription and, most importantly, additional insurance coverage at the rink.  Membership is free for players age 6 and under and $43 for players age 7 and older.  This is a one-time annual expense for all hockey players at all age levels, including coaches.  Membership is required for all Admirals players, including ADML players.  Register online at: http://www.usahockeyregistration.com.

The Amateur Hockey Association of Illinois (AHAI) and USA Hockey have released new requirements for Mite hockey to maximize development and create a foundation for future skills.  All youth hockey clubs in Illinois must follow the new rules starting in the fall.  See the attached letter for more information about the rules and how the Admirals will align our Mite programs.

What's the difference between ADML (Mighty Mites) and Pre-Hockey?

  • Pre-Hockey is for new players age 4-12 who have learned basic skating skills and passed Hockey Alpha 2 thru the Center Ice Skating Academy Hockey Development classes.  In Pre-Hockey, players learn advanced skating techniques, passing, stick handling, and shooting in order to prepare them for the game of hockey.  See the Pre-Hockey page for information.

  • ADML (formerly known as Mighty Mites) is for introductory hockey players aged 4-8. This is a teaching program designed to further develop the Admirals' younger mites toward league play. Players should have developed basic skating and hockey skills in the Center Ice Skating Academy and Pre-Hockey.  See the ADML page for information.
