The Admirals Hockey Club is proud to announce Coach Mark Nemec as our 2012/2013 NWHL Coach of the Year.
Mark was born and raised in the south suburbs of Chicago and saw his first hockey game at age 7. It was the greatest thing he had ever seen and a lifelong passion was born. He has been playing the sport for over 30 years and still plays today on multiple teams, as both a skater and a goalie. Mark is a Level 3 hockey official in Illinois and is currently in his eleventh year of officiating. He is also an administrator for the Chicago chapter of Hockey North America. He and his son Luke joined the Admirals for their inaugural year in 2007 for Mighty Mites and have been with the club ever since. Mark began as an assistant with the Admirals and has been a head coach with the Admirals in NWHL for the past three seasons, taking his initial Squirt team to the Championship game in 2011 and last year's Pee Wee team to the semi-finals in Tier 1. Mark has also been the NWHL representative for the Admirals Club for the past two years. Mark's coaching philosophy revolves around the two "R"s...respect and responsibility, fostering a love of the game in his players while improving their talents, and teaching kids that those two "R"s carry forward with them when they step out of the rink.
We are honored to have Coach Nemec as part of the Admirals staff and look forward to future seasons with Mark coaching our players.
