NIHL - Northern Illinois Hockey League

Tier II Travel hockey is the most competitive level at the Admirals. Players will try out for their appropriate age level and will be placed on a best players, best team concept.  It is important to remember that Travel hockey is “play to win” and that individual player ice time is earned and not balanced.

Fall 2011 Head Coach Bios - NIHL

Dean Lehmann, NIHL Mite AA Head Coach

Born and raised in Glen Ellyn, Coach Dean Lehmann grew up playing hockey with the Downers Grove Huskies.  After playing hockey for Glenbard West High School, he enlisted in the US Army where he played for the US Army, Ft. Hood, Texas, hockey and lacrosse teams.  Coach Dean is certified as a Level 3 USA Hockey coach, and is a Level 1 referree as well.  Director and coach of the Admirals No Check League since its inception in 2005, Coach Dean also has developed goalies and instructed pre-hockey classes for the club.  In 2011, he led the Admirals NWHL Pee Wee Red team to its championship and also was honored as the Admirals 2011 NWHL Coach of the Year.

Stu Gould, NIHL Squirt AA Head Coach

With more than 26 years of experience on and off the ice, Coach Stu Gould is the Admirals' full-time Hockey Director. He heads up our player development efforts and oversees all of our on-ice programs, including goalie development.

Dave Carlstrom, NIHL Bantam AA Head Coach

Coach Dave Carlstrom began his youth hockey career with the Schaumburg Kings and then played with the Addision Flames. He played on the varsity team throughout high school at Lake Park from 1990-1994. From 1994-1996 he played on the Danville Wings Jr. A (NAHL) and was in the All Star game in 1996. From 1996-1997, Coach Dave played hockey at University of Wisconsin, River Falls (Division III). Following that he played for University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point (Division III), where his team was the National Championship Runner Up in 1998. In 2003, Coach Dave was inducted into the Hall of Fame for University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point.
