Mites 8U (USA Selects)

Mite Program (USA Selects)

As a USA Hockey (USAH) Model Association, the Admirals Hockey Club fully supports USAH and its philosophies on mite hockey – namely, that our youngest players need high-activity skill development, a lot of puck touches, and an efficient use of ice time and space to build agility, balance, and coordination while having fun.  The Admirals mite program focuses on elite skill development through station based skills practices, using the top USAH training methods.  Our teams will play many half-ice games and tournaments vs. other local Tier II clubs. As the only fully compliment Tier II club in Illinois, our teams will participate in jamborees and half-ice games vs Tier I (AAA) teams.  Players will try out for a team with a best player, best team concept, and they will compete at the level for their optimal development of well-rounded hockey skills. All players will make a team.

Fall 2014-2015 fees include approximately 100 hours of ice time, half-ice games, and game socks.

Spring 2015 teams are posted under Teams > Mites.  Click here to see Spring team information.

The Amateur Hockey Association of Illinois (AHAI) and USA Hockey have released new requirements for Mite hockey to maximize development and create a foundation for future skills.  All youth hockey clubs in Illinois must follow the new rules starting in the fall.  See the attached letter for more information about the rules and how the Admirals will align our Mite programs.
