The Admirals are the only Chicago-area Club offering the elite player development model supported by USA Hockey and its eight Model Associations. Admirals United teams, which were named in alignment with other similar U.S. model teams, will focus on age-appropriate coaching and the maximization of player development using USA Hockey’s American Development Model and emphasis on Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD).
Instead of entering into a league, the Admirals United teams will follow the USA Hockey protocol of practices to games ratio (3:1). On-ice practices will be station-based and will emphasize hockey skills & habits, hockey concepts & awareness, and team play training. Off-ice training will also be part of the practice plans. Games will be played through tournaments (primarily local) and practice games with other Clubs throughout the season. These teams will be rostered as Tier III, and roster spots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Players on average will skate 4-5 times per week and expect approximately 105-120 hours of ice.
