Learn to Train Stage for Squirts and Pee Wees

The Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) model includes the "Learn to Train" stage for Squirts and Pee Wees.  Its objective is to refine overall sport skills and develop hockey-specific skills.  Areas of focus include:

  • Physical Development – fundamental sports skills, growth, general fitness, strength, endurance, and speed.
  • Technical Development and Tactical Skills – skating, puck control, attacking, decision-making, passing, receiving, shooting, scoring, body contact and angling, offensive body positioning and puck protection, deception, creativity on the ice, and reinforcement of ethics and rules.
  • Training and Competitive Environment – practices, games, and tournaments.
  • Psychological Development – fun, socialization, goal setting, teamwork, concentration, visualization, listening, and deliberate effort.

Please contact Susan Gawley if you need another copy of the password.
